Following his instincts: the co-founder of BOTTLETOP and #TOGETHERBAND is releasing his Debut Single ‘Dance Alone’.
Having explored the world of sustainability and business, Cameron has now taken a leap of faith and dived headfirst into music. Now, he shares his story with neun Magazine.
I grew up in the countryside, close to Glastonbury, I have always found myself taking inspiration from spending time in nature. Whether that’s wrestling with my Mum and Dad’s new puppy at home in Somerset, or watching a large blue butterfly float aimlessly beside a waterfall deep in the forest in Brazil.
Often, we don’t make the time or the space needed to properly heal from what has happened. We carry it around with us which affects ourselves and the people that we love.

My debut single, ‘Dance Alone’ is about having the courage to face the pain that comes with grief and trauma; it’s about doing the work and allowing the time that we need to heal and move forward so we can live life powerfully in full colour.
Being human is all about facing challenges and we need them in order to grow. Nowadays, rather than running or hiding from them, I try to be present and understand what the lesson is whilst trying to be kind, compassionate, forgiving and loving as possible – both to myself and anyone else involved.
When I’m songwriting, I try to tune in and follow my feelings and instincts. I try not to overthink it or get caught up in my head so it flows from my heart and the moment. The friendships and relationships that I cultivate along the way inevitably make their way into my writing.
I’m curious and always try to learn new things. I find myself inspired by my friends and family, from people speaking their truth, to power, from a stranger standing up for someone when they have nothing to gain, watching someone making huge sacrifices to master a craft over a lifetime, an act of kindness in a fleeting moment, a father giving everything to feed and protect his children. It could be a song that stops you in your tracks and unlocks something inside you or makes you want to move your body.

Balancing everything is undoubtedly my biggest challenge because I am developing multiple projects simultaneously. It can be overwhelming but I’m very selective and only commit to projects that I’m truly passionate about. The love that I have for what I do is ultimately what sustains me and without music, running, yoga and meditation to refuel, create headspace, feel joy and gain perspective on a daily basis, the wheels would inevitably fall off.
